This is great. Really nice work. What are the clinical implications in your findings?
Our data suggest that smoking might be protecting HPV + cells against nicotine-induced mutations. It is already noted that HPV+ HNSCC has significant prognostic implications. So our study may help in further evaluating whether the mutation rate among HPV associated smokers and non smokers have any prognostic significance in HNSCC. We need to do the future studies to explore this aspect.
